The BBSA promotes high standards of service and fair-trading throughout the UK shading industry.

Each member company must adhere to a code of practice, in order to maintain their membership status. Members of the BBSA can benefit from the following:

Members of the BBSA will also receive representation from organisations, which may not be directly associated with the shading industry in the UK. These organisations include the European Committee for Standardisation (CEN), the National Specialist Contractors Council (NSCC), the European Solar Shading Organisation (ES-SO) and the British Energy Efficiency Federation (BEEF).

The European Solar Shading Organisation (ES-SO)

The ES-SO is an umbrella body, which represents the European solar shading, roller blind and shutter industry. The organisation was founded in 2005, and its aims are to provide a point of contact between members, related organisations and European authorities, and to prove that solar shading can make an important contribution to personal comfort and energy savings.

All EU member states' national associations are members of the ES-SO, and all have voting rights. However, not every European country has a trade association for their solar shading industry. In these cases, or if a national association has decided not to join, the ES-SO will recruit major companies in the industry that share the ES-SO's goals. These prominent businesses can become associate members, and they have full member rights until their country's association joins the ES-SO. The ES-SO also accepts supporting members, which are usually European businesses within the solar shading industry that are already represented by a professional association.

More information can be found on the ES-SO website at www.es-so.com.
