The Association of Professional Landscapers (APL)

The APL was formed in 1995 as a specialist group in the Horticultural Trades Association (HTA). The APL represents the best landscape professionals and businesses in the UK. This association provides advice, training, research, PR services and representation to its members. The APL has around 180 members who design, build and maintain open spaces for both domestic and commercial consumers. This association is the only landscaping operator of TrustMark, the government endorsed initiative, which promotes professional trades people to consumers.

The British Association of Landscape Industries (BALI)

The BALI was founded in 1972 as a UK trade association for the landscaping industry. Members of the BALI include landscapers, landscaping designers, grounds maintenance contractors and businesses supplying related products and services. This association is committed to promoting professional excellence by continually raising standards across the industry.

Members of the BALI also have specialist skills in tree work, gardens for the disabled, garden designing, specialist gardening, fencing options, hard landscaping, soft landscaping, turf selection and laying, lawn care, hydro-seeding, interiorscapes, drainage solutions, groundwork, rooftop gardens and sports grounds.

There are various categories of membership, and applicants for membership in the BALI must submit to vetting, as well as providing details of previous contracts carried out over the past two years. Members of the BALI may benefit from the following:
