HVAC Organisations, Associations and Governing Bodies

Heating & Ventilating Contractors Association (HVCA)

The HVCA was founded in 1904 and is the leading professional organisation for firms involved in the design, installation and maintenance of heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration (HVACR). The HVCA adds value to businesses and represents the interests of its member firms.

Members of the HVCA have access to a wide variety of services, which help build high-quality and profitable businesses. Some member benefits include the following:

  • Discounted subscription for Constructionline.
  • Assistance in qualifying for membership to a Competent Persons scheme, in order to self-certify work.
  • Pre-qualification to register under the TrustMark scheme.
  • Register automatically in the Contractor Health & Safety Assessment Scheme.

Members can also benefit from industry alliances, as the HVCA is a member of the following organisations:

In order to join the HVCA, applicants must submit to independent inspection and assessment. Members must then undergo inspection and assessment every three years, in order to remain a member of the HVAC. The annual cost of membership is based on turnover, and there is a £50.00 plus VAT, non-refundable application fee. Federation of Environmental Trade Associations (FETA)

FETA is a trade association that represents the interests of contractors, installers, suppliers and manufacturers in the heating, ventilation, air conditioning, refrigeration and building controls industries. The aim of FETA is to be a representative voice and offer quality services for its members. FETA participates in debates that could affect its members, and collaborates with other organisations to work toward a better future for member industries.

Members of FETA may benefit from the following:

  • Access to a network of committees.
  • Notification of developments, which may affect members.
